The CMC mixing unit is a skid designed for a fast dispersion of hydrocolloid products such as carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), flours, carbopol, pectin, and guar or xanthan gum. These additives are widely used in industry on account of their multiple properties: as thickeners, jellifying agents, stabilisers, complexing agents, etc. In the food industry, these additives provide texture, body, consistency and stability to food products. In the cosmetics industry they are used as thickeners, stabilisers, suspending agents and film formers in creams, lotions or shampoo.

Operating Principle:
Hydrocolloid compounds are usually available in dry powder form, which must be diluted in water to obtain the desired colloidal solution. 
When these powders come into contact with water, lumps quickly form and it is difficult to obtain a homogeneous mixture using a conventional agitator. To overcome this problem, this mixing unit incorporates a rotor-stator mixer at the bottom of the tank that shears the product, thereby increasing the water-additive contact area. 
A cowles-type agitator fitted in the tank allows efficient circulation of the powder to the mixer lower head and also helps improve the dispersion time. 
When the process requires working with high powder percentages, the use of hot water can be an important factor as this allows the viscosity to be significantly increased. For such cases, the available options include a heating jacket and the replacement of the cowles-type propeller with another suitable agitation element such as anchor.
With its standard configuration, this equipment is prepared to work with products of up to  5000 cP. In case of more viscous products, this configuration should be adapted for this purpose.

The solid/liquid blender is designed for the dissolution of solids in the applications of the food-processing, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Dissolution of sugar for the beverage production, milk reconstitution, syrup production, brine preparation, yogurt and other milk product premixtures and ice-cream production are some of its applications.

Operating Principle:

 

It is a recirculation system for dissolution of solids. The product is recirculating while the solids are manually or automatically added through the hopper of the blender.
Several preparation tanks can be connected to the blender by means of a manifold.

The double cone blender is used to produce homogeneous solid-solid mixture. Mixing is a common process step in the manufacture of products for industries such as healthcare, food, chemical, cosmetics, detergents, fertilizers and plastics.

Examples of materials or substances mixed in this way include pharmaceutical granules, semolina flour, seeds, starch, coffee beans and ground coffee, cocoa, chocolate flakes or granules, powdered milk, baby food, preparations to make dehydrated soups and creams, leaf waxes, detergent granules, soap flakes, artificial fertilizers, plastic in powder, ground or pellet form, fibreglass, etc.

Operating Principle:

 

The main body of the blender consists of two cone-shaped sections welded at their bases to a central cylindrical section. The axis of rotation is perpendicular to the cone axis and passes through the cylindrical section. The driving motor is located at one of the two lateral supports holding the blender body.

The solids are introduced into the blender through the loading aperture. In this type of blender, mixing takes place axially, as a result of the powder moving through the different sections. Mixing is thorough but it depends on the rotating speed.

The mixture is discharged through a hermetically closing butterfly valve which can be operated manually or automatically.
The unit is provided with a guard rail with electrical safety to prevent the operator from accessing it when in operation. If anyone should gain access to the unit, for safety reasons, the operation will cease.

Designs & Features:
The series consists of 6 models with a total capacity of 160 to 4200 litres and a useful capacity of 65% of the total.
This blender is especially designed for sensitive mixtures with risk of breakage where the generation of dusts is to be avoided.
Mixing times vary between 5 and 20 minutes depending on the mixture.
The interior of the blender incorporates a cone mounted on the pivot axis on both sides. This system eliminates the formation of dead spaces and facilitates gravity discharge.
The unit is manufactured in AISI 316 (EN 14404) quality for all parts in contact with the product and AISI 304 (EN 14301) for the supports and the rest of the equipment. The internal and external surfaces have a bright polished finish. Due to the polished surface and absence of edges or corners, the unit can be easily cleaned either manually or automatically with CIP system.
The unit incorporates a guard rail with electrical safety, according to EC safety standards.

Options:
This unit allows the incorporation of a liquid spray system to introduce liquids in spray form during the process. The injector is connected to the spray nozzles by means of a rotary system and is fed with additives from a pressurized tank or by means of a variable displacement pump at constant pressure.
The automatic stop positions are: loading, discharging, and sampling. Before stopping at one of these three positions, the system performs a cycle which slows down the mixer in order to reach the stopping position with the highest possible accuracy and remains halted at that point.
The unit can be equipped with an automated loading system for introducing powders and granules into the blender body by means of a vacuum unit with self-cleaning hoses. It prevents creation of dust.
The skid can also be provided with a complete monoblock vacuum unit with liquid ring pump.
It is possible to install an automated vacuum discharge system. It includes a product receiving hopper with an automated
self-cleaning filter; as well as a control panel for the unit.

  • Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate (SLES) is a surfactant widely used for the manufacture of cleaning products, soaps, shampoos and even toothpaste. Thanks to its capacity as a wetting agent and emulsifier, it is also used in the cosmetic and dermo pharmaceutical industry.
  • Traditionally, SLES is supplied at 70% or 27%. The viscosity of the product at intermediate concentrations increases significantly and it becomes difficult to handle.
  • Purchasing the concentrated product involves significant financial savings in product haulage and storage costs.
  • The SLES dilution unit lets you benefit from purchasing the concentrated product. The concentrated product can be diluted in the line directly from the truck and stocked in diluted form at 27% or stocked in concentrated form and diluted according to production requirements.

Operating Principle:

  • The equipment has mass flow meters performing the feedback of the flow of each fluid to the controller, obtaining the desired concentration of SLES at 27%.
  • Optionally, minority products can be dispensed to the water line products, such as preservatives or pH regulators.

  • All system components are installed on a bench with adjustable legs so that it can be positioned on the floor and to make maintenance easy.

Counter-rotating blenders are used for mixing and homogenizing dispersed products at a controlled temperature with an optimum performance, regardless of the product viscosity.
These units are intended primarily for pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food and personal care products industries.
They are ideal for processes which require heating, vacuum, premixing, additions, vigorous agitation, emulsion or dispersion, as well as pressure and temperature. The skid can work at -1 to 0.5 bar and the double jacket - up to 3 bar. The operating temperature is between -7 a 120 ºC.
It is possible to control the following parameters: temperature, pressure, pH, weight and viscosity.
The unit is provided with a cleaning system with rotating spray balls in order to be connected to a CIP and SIP cleaning system.
Some examples of products that can be treated with these units are all kinds of creams, gels, sunscreens, depilatories, makeup, deodorants, sauces, pates, pastes, shoe creams, emulsions, paraffin mixtures, wax mixtures, carbopol dispersions, tooth pastes, products intended for drugstores and parapharmacies.

Operating Principle:
The unit has a sealed tank where mixing takes place by means of an anchor type agitator, a central shaft with counter-rotating blades that move in the opposite direction to the anchor, and an emulsifying disperser located at the bottom of the shaft.
The unit normally operates under vacuum during the entire duration of the mixing process. When the agitation starts, the anchor and the central blades rotate slowly while the bottom mixer is put into operation.
Subsequently, the product to be dispersed or emulsified is added and the speed of the blades on the central shaft is increased.
When the mixing is complete, the agitator speed decreases and the bottom mixer is stopped; at the same time the chamber begins to cool down. When the product reaches the desired temperature, any required additives are added to the mixture, typically when cold; depending on the process, the speed of the agitators may be increased slightly. It is possible to recirculate the product and, if necessary, an emulsifier can be added to the process.
The product discharge system can be by gravity or with a pump and, if necessary, using positive pressure.
Finally, the tank is cleaned by the CIP system.

Design & Features:
These units are available in 3 arrangements: on support base, on support feet and a metal structure, or on concrete floor, with or without automatic lid lifting. The units with support bases are designed to accept all auxiliary equipment necessary for the unit to operate autonomously.
These units are built to FDA standards.
For good temperature control, the system includes a PT100 or 4-20 mA temperature probe located on one end of the central shaft of the agitator in order to obtain product temperature data. Its reliability is excellent because of its distance from the boiler walls in contact with the hot and cold chamber. It has a second probe located in the heating and cooling chamber to control the latter.
